Working with Visual Arts Students

The standard of work produced today by Ireland’s visual art students is very high. I have been fortunate to have seen this in my time as a student, when printing for BaHons and MFA students, and when visiting the end of year shows.

I can recall how difficult it was to work on so many things with the end of year show getting closer.

The pressures of deadlines and deciding how best to showcase your final collection of work can be a lot to deal with.

It’s good to plan your printing as soon as you can. The earlier you can get in touch to discuss the print process the better. I can advise on image file preparation and file management for print, and can offer help with colour adjustments on the final prints.

Test printing is advisable prior to printing the final images. This is to discover if any adjustments need to be made in the images, such as brightness, colour levels, and any details that may be difficult to see on screen.

Test prints can also help inform your paper choice, unless this is predetermined by the tutors.
